Entering the Workforce

As in years past, the Office of Graduate Medical Education will be sponsoring a seminar on "Entering the Workforce". The seminar is aimed at assisting residents and fellows in looking for positions, resume preparation, interviewing, negotiating contracts, financial planning, and coding. This year there is a new session on "Strategies for Avoiding Litigation". This workshop has been extremely well received previously.

The seminar will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2009 from 8:00am – 3:30pm at the Institute for Clinical Excellence at 300 George Street (map available here). Please click here for a flyer about the program. You must register as a continental breakfast and lunch are provided.

Elective Rotation Scheduling

For academic year 2009-2010, we are moving to a web-based system that will allow Affiliated residents to enter their preferences for elective rotations online. Since it is our first year with the new system, it is unlikely the overall process will be earlier than in prior years; however, it will facilitate the process occurring earlier in the year for the future. Also, it will improve our ability to be certain we have accurate requests and complete applications from each resident which will prevent last minute hurdles that come up at times when a resident arrives for an elective.
